The complexity of chronic health issues and intuitive eating

You probably heard already, that we’re constantly told to “listen to our body” and “eat intuitively”. Sounds empowering, right?

But what happens when your body’s signals are confused? What if what you think is intuition is actually a deep imbalance?

There was a time I tracked every single thing I ate (macros, calories, meal times and all that). I was trying to "optimize" my body.

Then, I swung to the other extreme (no rules, no structure etc.) I told myself I was being intuitive. But deep down, I was using intuition as an excuse to eat emotionally, skip meals, and ignore what my body truly needed.

After all that, at the beginning of my Ayurvedic journey, I heard a very powerful statement:

"Like increases like and opposites balance each other out"

During my healing journey, I mostly struggled with Pitta (fire element) imbalance: Acne, very fast digestion, acidity and oily hair.

And guess what I was craving?

...Tomatoes, lemons, oranges and spicy food 🙈

The very things that made me feel worse. So no, it wasn’t my intuition talking, it was my imbalance!

Here is what nobody tells you about intuitve eating:

Your cravings reflect your current state, not your deeper needs.

When you’re out of balance, your body will often crave more of what is keeping you out of balance. But these cravings don’t come from your deep wisdom, they come from your current state of distortion.

So while these cravings feel familiar and even comforting in the moment, they often lead us further away from the harmony we’re truly seeking.

This is why intuitive eating can only work once the body is in a state of clarity. Until then, it’s just imbalance choosing imbalance.

You can’t trust a signal from a dysregulated system.

Just like you wouldn’t trust a broken compass, you can’t rely on cravings from a depleted, inflamed, or scattered body.

Before we can fully trust the messages from within, we have to stabilize the system sending them.

By calming the nervous system, strengthening digestion, and pacifying the doshas, we create the clarity needed for true intuition to rise.

Ready to experience this shift in your own body?

When we bring the body back into rhythm (when digestion is strong, the mind is steady, and the nervous system feels safe), that’s when real intuition awakens!
